Producing your own compost makes so much sense!  It’s a great way of getting rid of plant waste whilst producing a wonderful soil conditioner for your garden space.  Compost can be used for digging into the soil, which is better done in the warmer months to make best use of its nutrients. It can also be used as a mulch to suppress weeds and help retain moisture levels in the soil or simply add a trowel full of compost to the planting hole when planting out.

Your plants will benefit from adding the nutrient rich “chemical free” compost and the structure of your soil will greatly improve from the increase in organic matter.

Remember:  healthy soil = healthy plants = healthy people

Create a heap in an un-used corner of the garden or if you like a tidier garden use a compost bin.
